Trevor Sand

Trevor Sand

Zhuzhmaster/Creative Director

Trevor’s innate creative force has always been multi dimensional through varied interests, and he is pleased to launch Zhuzhmental Creative.

Trevor is a Vancouver based creative entity. His thirty years in the hairdressing industry have proven to be a valuable resource that carries through into other creative elements such as photography, makeup artistry, and design. His interests, vast and varied, propel him on a learning curve, constantly moving and shifting into other creative directions. His experience within the hair biz has led to many opportunities including owning and operating his own salons, being a stage artist and educator, and a fierce competitor. Through competition he has owned the title of Canadian Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year, among others. He has had the privilege of being included in the art direction of music video, album cover shoots, numerous shows as well as editorial layouts and major advertising campaigns.

Trevor’s product would be his aesthetic and attention to detail. He has an accomplished eye for composition, colour and balance which lends itself to not only to his primary field of hair and makeup but to that of photography and art direction. He is extremely project oriented and takes on an almost obsessive nature to projects he attaches himself to with passion and vision. He art directs life in general.

Trevor is no stranger to photography, working in studio with photographers throughout his career, absorbing their knowledge while continuing to be an avid photographer on his own. He believes that one can teach themselves so much through digital photography and then fine tune and excel through educational classes and mentors.

Clients and friends alike would agree that Trevor brings his own unique skill and sense of humour to his dedicated projects.

Q: If everyone has one superpower what would define you?
TS: Either my perpetual creative nature or my ability to NOT endorse or admire Quinoa and Kale as a relevant trend. Huge toss up!
Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after awhile. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they have had and synthesize new things.
